Brief info

I feel privileged to be part of the Sussex Motor Yacht Club in such exciting times. I originally joined the Club simply because I live in Sussex and have a motor yacht (to wear the undefaced blue ensign!) and because I appreciate a prestigious club which aims to be relevant for the future. I am a former Royal Navy Captain born in Malta (so the sea is in my blood). My enthusiasm for the Club has grown as we are re-defining our ethos, purpose, business and aspirations. Any Club is primarily its people. So, whilst the Sussex Motor Yacht Club has a magnificent collection of silver trophies (with Royal and celebrity connections behind them) and a warrant to issue blue ensign permits to its members, our people are what matter. Our membership includes energetic, amiable and innovative people. We can attract more of the same. I hope we continue to strike a balance between proud heritage and forward thinking. We are determined to build on our illustrious past by embracing modern times including energy efficient boat propulsion technologies. In so doing, we can grow our scale and reputation. As this develops, we can enjoy camaraderie, social occasions and mutual sharing of experiences

My enthusiasm for the Club has grown as we are taking great strides to re-define our ethos, purpose, business and aspirations.

Any Club is primarily its people. So, whilst the Sussex Motor Yacht Club has a magnificent collection of silver trophies and a warrant to issue blue ensign permits to its members, the latter are what matter. Our membership includes energetic, courteous, amiable and innovative people. We can attract more of the same.

I hope we will continue to strike a good balance between proud heritage and forward thinking. We are determined to build on our illustrious past by embracing modern times including electronic communications and business practices and cutting edge, energy efficient boat propulsion technologies. In so doing, we can grow our scale and reputation. As this develops, we can enjoy camaraderie, social occasions and mutual sharing of experiences.
